Steigenberger Royale is a smaller Deluxe ship with an active streak. With 52 cabins and around 100 guests, it carries noticeably fewer people than the 70-cabin ships in its price range, and it adds a gym and a Jacuzzi to the swimming pool.
This is a classic ship from 1992 rather than a recent build, and its 20 sq m cabins are a little smaller than the 22 sq m rooms on Farida or Esmeralda. What you gain is a quieter deck, a well-equipped fitness corner and air-conditioned cabins with WiFi and a mini bar, spread across five decks with plenty of open space. Fares start at $500.
